Mathematical Sciences

Pure mathematics is the study of abstract structures, and the mathematical sciences also serve the needs of students in the physical, social and life sciences, engineering, business, computer science, psychology and teacher education. The department seeks to combine these approaches, and all courses include discussion of the historical development of the subject.
