The Department of Physics offers a graduate program leading to the Doctor of Philosophy degree. Beyond the six core courses, Ph.D. candidates are expected to pass four additional advanced courses, at least one of which must fall outside the student's research area. Principal research fields include condensed matter physics, elementary particle physics, astrophysics, biological physics, and cosmology.
