History

The History discipline examines human experiences in their context (time and place). As the American Historical Association notes, historians make "the past accessible; it informs and preserves collective memory; it is essential to active citizenship." The practice of history requires ethical and sophisticated use of evidence that are traces of the past and analysis of interpretations over time.
