Literature

The study of literature teaches analytic and synthetic skills: learning to read carefully and analytically, students learn to ask hard questions of the work and of themselves. Grappling with the complex ideas contained in literature also develops students' writing and their capacity to work with ambiguity and multiple dimensions of meaning.
