The English Certificate requires Shakespeare plus one course selected from each of four literary period areas: Medieval, Renaissance, 18th-19th Century, and Modern-Postmodern. The study of English focuses on deep reading and understanding of literary and non-literary texts and applying critical reading and thinking skills to the analysis and explication of the text.
