History

Doctoral students are required to complete eight classes (30-32 credits) of coursework and demonstrate reading proficiency in two foreign languages. Upon completion of coursework and language requirements, Ph.D. students take a comprehensive examination, present a dissertation prospectus, and complete a dissertation on which they will be orally examined by their dissertation committee.
