Early Childhood Education

This major focuses on preparing teachers of young children from birth through grade 3. The program emphasizes child development, working with parents, inclusive educational practices, understanding diversity and authentic assessment. The program prepares students to work in early education and care settings as well as primary grades (K-3). The program includes a variety of field experiences ending with student teaching experiences in Pre-Kindergarten for 8 weeks and a K-3 setting for 8 weeks.
