Cinema Studies

Cinema Studies at Suffolk County Community College investigates historical and contemporary cinema by exploring the cultural, commercial, aesthetic, and political forces at work in the production and consumption of film. The film industry is understood as a commercial and artistic system that has helped shape the world today. Students in this program will develop an understanding of film history, theory, and criticism and will be introduced to the production of digital film.
