The Department of English offers a Master's in English Literature whose curriculum combines the deepest traditions of literature and the most current approaches to and applications of literary study. To earn the degree, students complete 30 credits including a thesis or a combined oral/written field examination; the only formal course requirement is a course in British and/or Irish literature before 1800.
